Second Life Reflections

On Friday 11/18, we spent time in Second Life on a field trip. We went to two art sims and a Myst-like game sim. During the course, you have had opportunities to visit a wide range of other Second Life locations such as Raglan Shire, Innsmouth, Haunted Houses, Psychology Theorist Project and others.

For this assignment, I want you to think about your experiences in Second Life and tie them in to the elements that affect creativity we have been talking about in class in a similar fashion to what you did in the previous assignment.

For each of the following Second Life examples you provide, support it with a specific fact about creativity you have learned during this course (in lecture or your readings). You can use the same Second Life example for more than one of the following components.

  1. Provide a Second Life example of how culture (historical, traditional, modern...) affects creativity in Second Life.

  2. Provide a Second Life example of how society (society support/restriction, rebellion, organizational structure, fear of failure...) affects creativity in Second Life)

  3. Provide a Second Life example of how personality (productivity, divergent thinking, intrinsic motivation, evaluation, remote association, openess to experience, Big 5....) affects creativity in Second Life

  4. Provide a Second Life example of how cognition (problem solving, fixation, insight, visual imagery, conceptual expansion, conformity, analogy, conceptual combination...) affects creativity in Second Life

  5. Provide a Second Life example of how brain factors (right brain/left brain, unconscious work, stages of creativity, incubation....) affects creativity in Second Life.
